There are five things that often cause us to not be happy;

First, the belief that you will not be happy without having the things you consider valuable. You’ve had a steady job and a decent standard of living, but you still feel inadequate. Shall lay on a soft pillow? Or was packed on the highway? Or the tongue and lips are busy with curses because highway traffic street?

Have you ever wished that time would just go away?

I don’t mean time or “existence” in the literal sense. I mean time in the way we count things.

Because we’re always counting, aren’t we?

Lighten up! Add some fun and laughter in the workplace and you will lower workplace stress.

Statistics show that more people have migraine headaches on Sunday night, and that the number of heart attacks and heart attack-like symptoms are very high early Monday mornings.

What does this indicate? It would appear that people dread going to work on Mondays, however, there are other reasons as well. Stress in the workplace has dramatically increased. Stressed and overworked management staff lack the time to positively acknowledge and encourage employees. Disrespect and rudeness are major employee attitude problems. People feel ignored by their employers. Read the rest of this entry »

I have a close friend named Norm who is a great photographer and a great person in general … recently he was telling me that all he does is work.

balance_of_lifeThat might sound familiar to some of you — I’ve certainly been there at different points in my life, although these days I have to say that I’ve found a pretty good balance between all the important things in my life, including work, family, and other things I’m interested in.

Norm asked me to write a post about work-life balance, because although I think Norm is pretty happy with his life, he’s interested in expanding his life beyond work. I think it’s an interesting question that most of us have to address at some point or other. Read the rest of this entry »
